MetaQuotes AI Assistant Hits 1 Trillion Tokens

MetaQuotes reports that its built-in AI assistant in MT5 has processed over 1 trillion tokens since its July release, but the metric measures throughput rather than financial value. The platform provider claims thousands of users are using it for chart analysis and strategy development, though critics question its real impact.

MetaQuotes, the developer of the widely used MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform, has announced that users have processed over 1 trillion tokens through its built-in AI assistant within three weeks of its July release. The assistant, described by Chief Business Officer Christoforos Theodoulou as an "orchestrated coding agent powered by LLMs," is designed to help traders and developers analyze code, plan multi-step actions, and automate routine tasks directly in the terminal.

The 1-trillion-token milestone indicates rapid adoption, but token counts measure computational throughput, not practical outcomes. As Theodoulou noted, thousands of MT5 users are applying the tool to tasks ranging from chart analysis to automated strategy development—a small fraction of MT5's global user base of millions. The figure suggests heavy usage among early adopters, but it does not answer whether this activity has led to better trading results or fewer bugs.

Industry observers have questioned whether such AI integrations fundamentally change how traders interact with markets. Several major brokers have released MCP servers since early 2026, with Claude appearing in nine out of ten brokers investigated by Finance Magnates. While the tool is offered for free and sits within the primary interface, its value proposition remains unproven.

For retail forex traders, this development highlights the growing role of AI in trading platforms, but it also serves as a reminder that raw adoption metrics can be misleading. The 1-trillion-token figure demonstrates willingness to experiment, yet it fails to measure whether the technology improves decision-making or simply generates more activity.
