FXCC Account Types: A Straightforward ECN Lineup

FXCC keeps its offering refreshingly uncomplicated. Unlike many brokers that clutter traders with dozens of micro-variants, FXCC presents just three ECN accounts, each built on the same raw-spread, commission-charged model. What separates them is capital: you choose the tier that matches your deposit size.

This simplicity extends to the trading environment: all accounts trade on MetaTrader 4, offer access to the same liquidity pool, and come with no dealing desk intervention. It’s a clean proposition, but as our investigation reveals, the devil is in the undisclosed details.

ECN XL: The Low-Barrier Entry Point

With a minimum deposit of just $100, the ECN XL is the account most retail traders will start with. It opens the door to ECN pricing without demanding a large bankroll—ideal for those who want to test the waters or trade small.

The catch? Retail leverage is capped at 1:30 under EU rules. So while $100 gets you in, your position sizes will be limited. Still, for risk-conscious traders, this is a much safer path than offshore high leverage offers. According to FXCC, you get spreads from 0.0 pips, but the actual average and the per-lot commission are not published—something to verify via a demo account.

ECN Standard: Pay More, Get… the Same?

Stepping up to $10,000, the ECN Standard account theoretically targets seasoned traders. But based on the broker’s public disclosure, there is no obvious upgrade: same platform, same leverage, same opaque fee structure. You might expect priority support or tighter dealing spreads, but nothing is guaranteed.

In our assessment, the Standard account exists mainly to segment customers by wallet size. If you have $10,000, you can still open an XL account and keep the rest elsewhere. Without clear exclusive benefits, the Standard tier feels like an arbitrary hoop.

ECN Advanced: Designed for High Net-Worths

At $100,000, the ECN Advanced account is in a different league. The key differentiator is leverage: 1:200, which suggests this account is for elective professional clients who waive ESMA protections. That extra firepower can magnify returns, but it also erases the safety net of negative balance protection and margin close-out rules—tread carefully.

Again, spreads and commissions are not disclosed. For this level of commitment, we’d expect bespoke pricing and relationship management. Before depositing six figures, insist on a written breakdown of all costs and terms. Our reviews show some traders had positive experiences, but there are also cases of sudden margin calls and bonus removal that raise red flags.

Spreads and Commissions: The Hidden Half of the Equation

FXCC’s accounts are all built on an ECN/STP model, meaning you pay a raw spread plus a fixed commission. The broker advertises “spreads from 0.0 pips,” but that starting figure often applies only during deep liquidity, and not all instruments hit it. Without published average spread data, calculating the all-in cost per trade becomes guesswork.

User feedback paints a mixed picture: many praise tight spreads and fast execution, while some complain of “very high transaction charges” and unexpected fees. To get a true reading, we recommend running a demo account for at least two weeks and logging the spread and commission per trade across major pairs. Only then can you decide if FXCC’s pricing is competitive.

Leverage and Regulation: Safety with a Side of Caution

FXCC’s CySEC license (121/10) is the backbone of its credibility. As a Cyprus-regulated entity, the broker must segregate client funds, offer negative balance protection, and participate in the Investor Compensation Fund. For retail clients, the maximum leverage on major forex pairs is 1:30, which aligns with ESMA’s prudent approach.

The exception is the ECN Advanced account with its 1:200 leverage. This is only available if you explicitly opt to become a professional client—losing key protections. Our deep-dive uncovered one impersonator site, 64 withdrawal-related complaints, and a Forex Peace Army rating of just 2.7/5. Regulation provides a safety net, but vigilance remains essential.

Platform & Tools: All Roads Lead to MT4

Regardless of your account, trading is conducted exclusively on MetaTrader 4. FXCC does not offer MT5 or a proprietary app. MT4 remains a solid choice for forex traders, with its charting, automated trading (EAs), and mobile apps. User reviews generally rate the platform performance highly, citing stable operation and fast order execution. However, we noted a few complaints about login failures and server downtime at critical moments.

FXCC also provides a free demo account, which we highly recommend. It’s the only way to test the live environment without risk. A user noted the broker restricts you to five demo accounts—so plan your practice accordingly.

Account Opening and KYC: Where Grit Is Tested

Opening an account online is routine: registration form, upload ID and proof of address. But the KYC verification can become a battleground. We identified multiple negative reviews specifically targeting this step. Traders reported being asked for repeated selfies, documents rejected for minor mismatched addresses, and support that was slow to respond.

One client described being stuck in a loop of requests, feeling the process was deliberately obstructive. While strict compliance is standard for CySEC brokers, the volume of frustration suggests FXCC could improve its communication and processing speed. Our advice: prepare immaculate documents, double-check every detail, and be prepared to follow up persistently.

Which FXCC Account Is Right for You?

For the vast majority of retail traders, the ECN XL is the natural choice. A $100 deposit is accessible, the leverage is safe, and you get full ECN execution. Unless you specifically need higher leverage and are willing to accept the risks of professional status, the Standard and Advanced accounts offer little extra value.

Before committing a single cent, use the demo account to verify spreads, test order execution, and gauge the platform. Contact support with a few questions to experience their response quality. And finally, start small—trade micro lots until you’re confident that FXCC’s real-money environment matches your expectations. The broker has a low scam risk score, but our 64 withdrawal complaints and multiple KYC horror stories show that smooth sailing isn’t guaranteed.

  3. Choose an account — pick a tier from the table above that matches your deposit and strategy.
  4. Fund — deposit via a supported method (start small to test the process).
  5. Test a withdrawal — before scaling up, confirm you can withdraw smoothly.
